Christine "Chris" Nethers, 96, of Toboso, Ohio died Monday evening, October 9, 2017 at her home.
Born November 21, 1920 in Hanover Township of Licking County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Thomas and Pearl B. (Bolen) Wickham and was a 1938 graduate of Toboso High School. Chris was a homemaker in her early years and later worked for dentists, Dr. Bondy and Dr. Freytag of Newark and Dr. Rousch of Granville. She was a member of Toboso United Methodist Church where she played the piano for the choir. She was also the pianist for the Hanover Chapter of the Eastern Star where she was a life-time member. Chris was the founder of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary and the Lucky Doe Club and was very active member. She enjoyed music and dancing and she and her husband, Bill, attended many dances with "special couples" Gerald and Betty Mills and Bob and Jean Francis. She and Bill had many fond memories of the great people they met while Bill was President of the Ohio Elks Association. They also had many special times in Arizona with family and friends, Wayne and Virginia Varner.
Surviving are three daughters, Connie McCullough of Florida, Deanna (Ed) Bradley and Billie Bush, both of Toboso; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and twenty-two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Leonard "Bill" Nethers whom she married January 24, 1939 and who died November 20, 2003; two half sisters, Dorothy Rector Handley and Elogene Wickham Matson and one great grandson.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside funeral services for family and friends will be 11:00am Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Hanover Cemetery with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life with piano music and a lunch at the Toboso United Methodist Church.
