FRAZEYSBURG ? Charles L. Parr, 77, of Frazeysburg, Ohio was called home to be with his heavenly father on Saturday afternoon, October 3, 2009 at the Willow Haven Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio. Born October 4, 1932 in Licking County, Ohio near Black Run, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Beatrice Evelyth (Scanlan) Parr and was a 1952 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. Mr. Parr was an Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired in 1998 from Armco Steel where he had been a machine operator for many years and was a member of the Armco Retirees Group. As a lifelong member of the Frazeysburg Community Bible Church, he served his Lord as a church Elder and Trustee, as well as being a part of the men?s fellowship and prayer group. Charles loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming, hunting, logging, mechanics and collecting antique tractors. He especially enjoyed activities with his family. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Eveline Mae (Smith) Parr whom he married September 29, 1957; two daughters and sons in-law, Darla K. and Mark Van Fossen of Coshocton, Ohio and Elizabeth and Raymond Murphy of Zanesville; two sons, Greg A. Parr of Frazeysburg and Paul C. Parr of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Hope Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Hannah Murphy and Miriam Van Fossen; a brother and sister in-law, Robert and Barbara Parr of Bossier City, LA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed Scanlan, Carl Parr and Lester Parr. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Al Van Fossen and Rev. Louis Isch officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery where Wakatomika Post 6193, VFW will conduct military honors.
