Charles R. Ferrell, 86, of Dresden, Ohio died Sunday evening, January 7, 2018 at Zanesville Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 11, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio he was a son of the late Richard and Anna May (Haegen) Ferrell and was a 1950 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Ferrell was a retired farmer and he drove a milk route for Martin's Dairy of Dresden for many years. Later he worked for the Longaberger Company in the Security Department. He was a member of the Dresden VFW and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving are three sons, Dale (Judy) Ferrell and David (Sheri) Ferrell, both of Dresden and Charles Ferrell, Jr. of Canal Fulton, Ohio; a son in-law, Gaylen Caynor of Conesville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Nella F. (Kendall) Ferrell, whom he married April 19, 1952 and who died August 14, 1997; a daughter, Gale Caynor; one grandchild, Randy Wills; one brother, Dalton Ferrell and five sisters, Virginia King, Juanita Houston, Margaret Russell, Doris Johnson and Vivian Falhaber and a daughter in-law, Lorie Ferrell.
Calling hours will be 4pm to 7pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, January 12, 2018 at the funeral home with Mr. Ferrell's nephew, The Rev. Gene Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
