Charles "Charlie" Llewelyn Courson, 85 of Newark passed away December 23, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with his family at his side.
Born September 28, 1935 in Newark to the late Charles and Fern (Kaylor) Courson. Charlie retired from OSU-Newark after 32 years. He attended Heath Christian Union Church. He was an active member of Newark Eagles #387. The three things that mattered most to Charlie were God, his country and his family. He spent his life helping others through charitable work with the Eagles and Salvation Army. He passed this passion on to his family and his legacy will live through them.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sue (Edgington) Courson; daughters, Rhea (Dick) Dunsford, Raylene (Jeff Hickle) Graves; sons, Charles J. "Bo" (Christina) Courson, Jay (Julie) Courson, Greg (Danielle) Courson; a brother, Mike (Sandy) Courson; eight grandchildren, Chad, Tina, Carrie, Devan, Brey, Drew, Alex, Heather; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Darliene Thompson; and a great-great granddaughter.
The family would like to thank OSU Wexner Medical Center and Hospice of Central Ohio for the exceptional care and communication during these unprecedented times.
A public memorial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charlie at any First Federal Savings and Loan location. Funds donated will be distributed among the charities Charlie loved.
