Carol Sue Howard, 75, of Dresden, Ohio died Thursday evening, January 25, 2018 at the Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville after a long and courageous battle with ALS. Her loving family and friends were all at her side.
Born December 11, 1942 in Zanesville she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Dorothy (Garrett) Lacy and was a 1960 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Mrs. Howard was retired from the Medical Coding department of Medical Specialist of Zanesville. She had previously worked for Mutual Federal Savings and Loan Bank. Carol Sue was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and attended Trinway United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting and doing needlepoint. Carol Sue's greatest love was her family and she simply adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be known by all who know her as a very loving, kind, caring and positive person.
Surviving are three sons, Max (Michelle) Howard of Wakatomika, Ohio, Dean (Karen) Howard and Troy Howard, both of Trinway, Ohio; four grandchildren, Austin Howard, Casey Howard, Alexus (Randall) Allen and Amber Howard and six great grandchildren, Zara, Zoee, Hunter, Parker, Amelia and Evie. Also surviving are many special and very close friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Paul J. Howard whom she married February 19, 1960 and who died May 2, 2015 and a brother, Gerald Lee Lacy.
Calling hours will be 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery, Coshocton, Ohio.
