Carmen L. Fortney, 73, of Dresden, Ohio died Thursday morning, April 6, 2017 at her home.
Born November 23, 1943 in Dresden she was a daughter of the late John Wendell and Bonnie Jean (Gist) Longaberger and was a 1963 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Mrs. Fortney was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ in Coshocton, Ohio. She loved traveling to Amish country to shop and eat. Carmen was retired from the Longaberger Company and was a former waitress at Popeye's Restaurant in Dresden.
Surviving is her loving husband of 41 years, Ronald E. Fortney whom she married February 14, 1976; two sisters, Wendy (Robert) Little and Mary Ann (Wendell) McCafferty, both of Dresden; four brothers, Jerry (Donna) Longaberger, Richard (Joan) Longaberger, Gary (Lynn) Longaberger and Jeff (Jane) Longaberger all of Dresden and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Genevieve Hard, Judy Swope and Ginny Lou Wilcox and two brothers, David Longaberger and Dale Longaberger.
Calling hours will be 2pm to 6pm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, April 10, 2017 at the funeral home with Brother Dan Lamp officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
