A memorial service for Carl E. Swank, Jr, 37 of Pottstown, Pa. will be held Saturday March 6, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes with Rev. Robert L. Knox officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Mr. Swank, an outgoing, friendly person who never met a stranger, only new friends, died Tuesday February 24, 2004 at his residence. He was born August 4, 1966 in Newark, Ohio to Lucinda B. (Martin) Ellis of Heath and Carl E. Swank, Sr. of Newark. Mr. Swank was a 1985 graduate of Newark High School, attended University of Cincinnati and Ohio State University. Mr. Swank served 12 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of the Gulf War serving aboard the USS Louisiana and USS Eisenhower as a nuclear engineer. Mr. Swank was a nuclear Shift Supervisor candidate at the Limerick Nuclear Generating Station Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Jeannie B. (Jordan) Swank whom he married March 3, 1990; son, Corey N. Swank; sisters, Mary (Richard) Reid, Carla Swank of Newark; step-mother, Darlene Swank of Newark; step-father, Dwayne Ellis of Heath; step-sisters, Tiffany (Jack) Adkins, Stephanie Frankenberry, Krystal Collins of Newark; step-brothers, Dana (Angela) Ellis of Newark, Jason (Amy) Watts of Delaware; mother-in-law, Hannah (Robert) Partridge of Newark and father-in-law, Jeff Jordan of Pinnopolis, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Joanna (Mark) McClain of Newark, Jennifer (Sidney) Wrenn of Moncks Corner, S.C.; brother-in-law, Joel (Christine) Jordan of Newark; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Calling hours will be observed Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
