Obituary

A funeral service for Birge Jaynes, 77 of Heath will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath with ministers Dave Mason and Ray Linn officiating. Graveside funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the New Lexington Cemetery. Mr. Jaynes went home to be with the Lord Sunday July 30, 2006 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born May 4, 1929 in Shawnee, Ohio to the late Birge and Thelma (Daugherty) Jaynes. Birge graduated from Shawnee High School in 1947. He worked for many years as a salesman for the Continental Baking Company in New Lexington and Heath. He retired from Conn?s Potato Chip Company, Zanesville in 1991. He was a member of the Heath Church of Christ since 1964. He had served as a Deacon and a Junior Boys and Adult Sunday School teacher. In his retirement he volunteered in the custodial work of the church building. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Marsha (Essex) Jaynes, whom he married on September 24, 1949 in Hemlock, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in law, Becky & Jim Mack of Thornville and LuAnn & Ron Nickelson of Fairfield, Ohio; grandson, Ryan Mack; several nieces and nephews. A brother Edgar Jaynes of Lancaster and sister, Pat Peyton of Shawnee in addition to his parents, preceded him in death. Calling hours will be observed Wednesday, August 2, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes 1850 West Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath, Ohio 43056.
