A funeral service for Billy J. Wingate, Jr., 50 of Newark will be held Monday April 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Phil Duncan officiating. Entombment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mr. Wingate died Tuesday April 5, 2005 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born November 1, 1954 in Bluefield, W.Va. to Billy J. Wingate, Sr. and the late Jean (Graham) Wingate.Mr. Wingate was employed as the manager of the Dollar General store in Heath. He had served in the U.S. Air Force and is a member of the American Legion Post # 85. He was active in the Monday Night Mixed League at Valley Lanes. He enjoyed fishing and camping.Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Shirley R. (Bustos) Wingate, whom he married December 31, 1982; his father and step-mother, Billy J. and Ramona A. Wingate, Sr. of Newark; children, Tim Wingate and Marie Wingate of the home; step-children, Scott Seymour of Nebraska and Michelle Freeman of Wisconsin; sisters, Sharon Wright of Newark, Reda (Dave) Robertson of Heath, Myra (Bob) Vogel of Newark; brothers, Stephen (Janice) Wingate of Newark, Skip (Amy) Blessard of Granville; grandchildren, Michael and Cory Zuroske; several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be observed Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
