A funeral service for Betty J. Wohlford, 81 of Newark will be held Friday September 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Tom Dehmann officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Wohlford died Tuesday September 8, 2009 at the Arlington Care Center. She was born October 21, 1927 in Athens, Ohio to the late Ernest and Eva Amelia (Byers) Dehmann. She was a 1945 graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School. She had been employed at Larson Manufacturing. She enjoyed helping transport residents at her apartment building to appointments and shopping. She spent many hours watching baseball and playing Bingo. She cherished her time with her family. Survivors include five children, Sandra (Michael) Courson of Newark, James E. (Debi) Wohlford of Newark, Becky (Edward) Rossiter of Thornville, Jerry, E. (Debbie) Loper, Sr. of Longmont, Co., Sheila (Ralph) Sutton of Calhan, Co.; grandchildren, Kristen, Candice, Jerry, Jr., Jeffrey, Anthony, Ralph, Jr., Kayla, Kevin, Angel, Lainie, Ashley, Steven; great grandchildren, Gage, Evan, Dominek, Donte, Ryan, Sierra, Cheyenne, Colton, Abigail, Kelsey, Jessie, Tanner, Hayley, Cali, Cole, Dylan, Kale, Brayleyn, Anthony, Caleb, Kareana, Joshua; great-great granddaughter, Lucy; brother, Guy Dehmann of Athens County; sister, Patricia (Jesse) Pendleton of Lyndon, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Wohlford; son, Jeffrey H. Wohlford; brother, Richard Dehmann; sister, Barbara Jean Dehmann. Calling hours will be observed Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street. The family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Central Ohio P.O.
