Graveside funeral services for Betty L. Shubirg, 82 of Newark will be held Wednesday April 2, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Shubirg died Sunday March 30, 2008 at the Arlington Care Center with her family by her side. She was born June 2, 1925 in East Fultonham, Ohio to the late Albert and Olive (Willard) Wiseman. Mrs. Shubirg was a homemaker. She also was a cashier at Deweese Bros. and Campolo?s Market. She was a charter member of Cox United Methodist Church and had served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include her sons, Gerald ?Bill? (Molly) Shubirg of Newark, Ival (Janet) Brobst of Lancaster, Vaughn (Janie )Brobst of Rushville; daughters, Marjorie (Raymond) Hess of Lancaster, Marcia Williams of Hebron; sisters, Ilene Meadows of Heath, Bonnie Glasspoole of Thurston; brother and sister in law, Charles (Phyllis) Shubirg of Lancaster; grandchildren, Kelly Owens of Hebron, Halle Hess of Lancaster, Madeline, Seth & Trent Shubirg of Newark, Michael Brobst, Timothy Brobst, Kenny Brobst, Vonda Brobst; several great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and special niece Sue O'Connor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gerald Shubirg, whom died November 20, 2005; sisters, Florence Smith, Pearl Bartlet; brothers, Hershel Wiseman, Robert Guy Wiseman, Rolland Wiseman & Leroy Wiseman. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to Cox United Methodist church, 50 S. 30th Street, Newark or Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to staff, nurses and aides of Arlington Care Center and Hospice of Central Ohio for their care and support during our Mother's illness.
