FRAZEYSBURG ? Funeral services for Betty E. Burkett, 76, of Marne, Ohio, will be at 10:30am Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jody Holland officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery. Mrs. Burkett died Saturday evening, September 3, 2005 in the emergency room of Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio. Born November 13, 1928 in Norwich, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Hazel (Reynolds) Swope and was a 1946 graduate of Nashport High School. Mrs. Burkett worked for 17 years in the wire assembly department of Alltell and she retired in 1992 from the Holophane Company of Newark. She was a member of the Old Stone Church of Christ. Surviving is two sons, Steve Burkett and Thomas (Cindy) Burkett, both of Marne; six daughters, Sharon (Ronald) McKinney of Jacksontown, Ohio, Sandra (Craig) Donnelly of Zanesville, Ohio, Shelia Pickinpaugh of Duncan Falls, Ohio, Beckey (Buck) White, Peggy Bonham and Robin Ice, all of Newark; one brother, Joe (Marsha) Swope of Zanesville; one sister, Barbara (Dick) Roffey of Marne; eighteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Swope; a sister, Kay Rakes and a granddaughter, Stephanie Burkett. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, Frazeysburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department.
