ADAMSVILLE ? Bernard E. Wortman, 64, of 8005 Main Street, Adamsville, Ohio died at 9:13am Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio after a brief illness. Born August 6, 1939 in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Bernard Wortman and Frances L. (Ketchum) Wortman of Adamsville and was a 1958 graduate of Adamsville High School. Mr. Wortman was employed in the maintenance department at the Lear Corporation of Zanesville and he was a member of the Methodist faith. He was currently serving on the Adamsville Village Council and he enjoyed hunting and field trial dogs, having been a former member of the Muskingum Valley Beagle Club. Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife, Arlene M. (Hampp) Wortman, whom he married January 31, 1959; two daughters, Connie S. (David) Decker of Norwich, Ohio and Crystal L. Wortman of Adamsville; one son, Raymond E. (Angie) Wortman of Adamsville; two sisters, Patricia (Walt) Harris of Adamsville and Charlotte L. Wortman of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; five grandchildren; one sister in-law, Holly Wortman of Adamsville; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors. In addition to his father, a brother, Tommy Wortman, preceded him in death. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Monday, April 26, 2004 at the Adamsville Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 8005 East Street, Adamsville. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jennifer Czarnota and the Rev. Bracken Foster officiating. After the funeral service, Mr. Wortman will be cremated and his ashes will be buried at the Baptist Cemetery in Adamsville.
