Bernard H. Stevens, 92, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Monday morning, June 15, 2015 at Arlington Care Center in Newark, Ohio.
Born September 24, 1922 in Noble County, Ohio he was the son of the late Rufus H. and Sylvia (Day) Stevens and was a 1940 graduate of Harrietsville High School. He also attended the Marietta Business College.
Mr. Stevens served our country for 22 years as a member of the Army Air Corp during World War II and later with the United States Air Force, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel.
For many years he resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Colorado Springs. He also loved farming and spent much time at the family farm near Frazeysburg. Mr. Stevens was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is one son, Bradley (Roslyne) Stevens of Frazeysburg; a daughter, Sylvia Stevens of London, England; five grandchildren, Brooke Stevens, Liette (Tim) Flenner, Wade Stevens, Kyle Stevens and Ben Sprung; five great grandchildren, Charlie, Max, Addie, Graham and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Jane L. (Crouch) Stevens whom he married July 22, 1947 and who died June 29, 2008 and a sister, Betty Worts.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8pm Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the funeral home with Chaplain Cory Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Perryton Cemetery.
