Barbara L. (Keyes) Wilcox, 92, of Dresden passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Altercare Zanesville.
Born October 6, 1933, in Dresden, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Dorothy (Snyder) Keyes and a 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School. She was the receptionist for Dr. Matthews of Dresden after high school. She married John W. Wilcox, Jr on August 25, 1953, and was a stay-at-home wife and mother. Barbara was a member of Dresden United Methodist Church, attended the Flakey but Faithful Bible Study, and was a past member of Dresden American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, John C. (Jennifer) Wilcox of Dresden, Rebecca L. (Joseph) Burwell of Zanesville, and Thomas A. (Amy) Wilcox of Dresden; grandchildren, John (Annette) Wilcox of Nashport, Evan (Fern) Wilcox of Westerville, Lee (Elaine) Wilcox of Norwich, Brian Burwell of Zanesville, Steven Burwell of Zanesville, Brittany (Eric) Spangler of Indiana, and Braden (Jane) Wilcox of Gahanna; great grandchildren, Easton, Chezney, Charlie, Kathleen, Gabriel, Fynn and Farryn Wilcox, Augustin, Evlyana Burwell, Jack Watson and Tommy Wilcox; a brother, Robert Keyes; sisters, Jeanette Merriam and Marilyn James; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Jim Wilcox and sister-in-law, Wanda Thornsley.
We would like to Thank her friends and wonderful neighbors who visited her often, as you know she liked talk and swing, and a heartfelt thank you to the Staff of Genesis Hospice and The Altercare Nursing Facility of Zanesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Wilcox, Jr. who passed away August 17, 2006.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in Barbara’s honor to Dresden United Methodist Church.
In keeping with her wishes a graveside service will take place at 11:00am, Saturday, February 14, 2026, with Pastor Dan Wells officiating.
Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband, John at Dresden Cemetery.
