Obituary
Barbara E. Slate, 83, of Dresden, Ohio went to be with her Lord on Monday afternoon, April 20, 2015 at her home.
Born March 13, 1932 in Dresden she was a daughter of the late Orin and Mary (Ripple) Graves and was a 1950 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Mrs. Slate worked for many years in the billing department of Good Samaritan Medical Center, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church, the Kismet Club, the Rosewood Garden Club and was a former member of the Dresden Order of Eastern Star. She was a former deputy registrar for the Department of Motor Vehicles, selling license plates for many years and she served on the Dresden Village council. Barbara loved gardening and she enjoyed reading.
Surviving is one daughter, Becky Slate of Dresden; three sons, Rick (Darla) Slate, Jamie (Carolyn) Slate and Jon (Molly) Slate, all of Dresden; thirteen grandchildren, Lucas Slate, Katie (Chris) Battig, Ashley (Chris) Lyons, Kayela (David Smith) Slate, Joshua Slate, Heath Slate, Matthew Hunt, Emilea Slate, Mitchell Slate, Hannah Slate, Alec Slate, Dirk Lincicome and Tonya Mildenberg; three great grandchildren, Ryleigh Slate, Drew Lincicome and Jack Lincicome; two sisters, Patricia Graves of Manchester, Connecticut and Nancy (Peter) Galvani of Canandiagua, New York; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James R. Slate whom she married November 4, 1950 and who died January 30, 2004; a brother, Roger Graves and a sister, Betty Lauvray.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Dresden United Methodist Church, 1014 Main Street, with the Rev. Greg Inboden officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
