Arthur L. Proffit, 81, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Thursday morning, July 16, 2015 at his home.
Born February 13, 1934 in Yukon, West Virginia he was a son of the late George E. and Etta L. (Smith) Proffit and he was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 1992 from the Weldon Company where he was a supervisor. He loved farming and had been in the dairy business for several years.
Surviving is his loving wife of over 60 years, Marie N. (Jewell) Proffit whom he married September 7, 1954; four sons, Wetzel (Phyllis) Profitt of Coshocton, Ohio, Russell (Cheryl) Proffit of Frazeysburg, Chester (Brenda) Proffit of Perryton, Ohio and Rodney (Paula) Proffit of Coshocton; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; three brothers, Bill (Diane) Proffit and Roger (Venita) Proffit both of Johnstown, Ohio and Jerry (Margaret) Proffit of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; one sister, Betty Cline of St. Petersburg, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours will be from 2pm to 5pm Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be at 5:00pm Sunday at the funeral home, following callings hours.
