Obituary

A funeral service for Arthur Maynard, 84 of Newark will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Chaplain Mark Pierce officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Maynard died Friday, February 22, 2008 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born August 30, 1923 in Inez, Ky. to the late James H. and Nora (Alley) Maynard. Mr. Maynard served his country in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman during World War II. He had worked as a mail carrier for the Postal Service. He was a lifetime member of Paul Lawrence V.F.W. in Columbus. He attended the Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Carl) Weber of Newark; sons, Danny Maynard of Orlando, Fla., Warren (Sherry) Maynard of Peru, Ind.; sisters, Daphene (William) Hale of Columbus, Ruth M. Cline of Heath, Sandy (James) Perry of W.Va.;11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann (Carter) Maynard, whom he married May 31, 1947 and who died July 18, 1994; a daughter, Darlene Maynard; a sister, Virginia Faye Maynard; and a brother Edgel Maynard. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
