FRAZEYSBURG ? Funeral services for Arthur T. ?Jerry? Dowell, 79, of Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Nashport, Ohio, will be at 1:00pm Thursday, August 19, 2004 in the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Mr. Bill Jones officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery, near Hopewell, Ohio. Mr. Dowell died Monday afternoon at the Care Center. Born July 30, 1925 in Dresden, Ohio, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Lacy) Dowell and was a 1944 graduate of Jefferson High School. He retired in 1987 as a material handler with United Technologies of Zanesville after 35 years of service and he was an avid trap-shooter for many years. Surviving is his wife, Mary E. (Brewer)(Bishop) Dowell, whom he married March 19, 1982; one step-son, Ronald (Edna) Bishop of Newark, Ohio; one step-daughter, Donna (Gary) Doyle of Nashport; two brothers, Donald Dowell of Dresden and Gene Dowell of Zanesville; one sister, Patty (George) Little of McClure, Ohio; five step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; one step great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Richard. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the funeral home, 110 Third Street, Frazeysburg.
