Arthur L. Adams, 86, of Trinway, died at 5:23AM Sunday October 12, 2008 at the Bethesda Hospital ER. Mr. Adams was born January 13, 1922, in Adamsville, a son of the late Clyde Leroy and Ruth Hutchison Adams. Mr. Adams had worked in the CCC and in 1940 enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific Theatre in the battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. He had worked at Jefferson Elementary School, and retired from the maintenance department at Ohio University-Zanesville and the US Postal Service at Coshocton. Mr. Adams was a member of the Dresden U. Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Clarice E. (Williams) Adams, whom he married February 11, 1945; children, Neal Adams of Dresden, Audrey Carolyn (James) Harley of Virginia Beach, VA, Daniel (Mary) Adams of The Plains; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Mercer of Zanesville, Mary Louise Steele of N. Canton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde Raymond Adams, Sr., William Dwight, Robert Wallace and Carl Edward Adams and a sister, Esther St. Clair. Friends may call 6-9PM Tuesday October 14, 2008 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Dresden, where services will be held at 11AM Wednesday with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating.
