A funeral service for Anna B. Whisner, 71 of St. Louisville will be held Thursday September 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Gus Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Mrs. Whisner died Monday September 22, 2008 at the Newark Healthcare Centre. She was born June 27, 1937 in Weston, West Virginia to the late Allen S. and Ida K. (Henline) Bancroft. Mrs. Whisner retired in 1984 as a cook at Denison University with 15 years service. She had previously been employed as head chef at the Newark Air Force Base for 10 years. She was a member of the Licking Valley Church of Christ for over 40 years and chairperson of the funeral luncheon committee. One of her favorite pastimes was cooking. She also was an avid bingo player and collected beanie babies. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Roy L. Whisner, whom she married January 6, 1957; three sons, Thomas Bancroft of Newark, Roy L. Whisner, III of Newark, Edward E. (Donita) Whisner of Claremore, OK.; brother, James (Loretta) Bancroft of Baltimore, MD.; brothers-in-law, Ronald Whisner of St. Louisville, Richard Whisner of Newark, Randall (Kathy) Whisner of St. Louisville; sister-in-law, Sandra (Thomas) Magers of St. Louisville; grandchildren, Nathan (Lynsey) Whisner of Newark, Amanda Whisner of Newark, Ashlee Whisner and Crystal Whisner both of OK.; great-grandson, Chase Whisner, several nieces, nephews and Pinky. Calling hours will be observed Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
