FRAZEYSBURG ? Anna E. Hindel Slaughter, 86, of 13295 Mt. Zion Road, Frazeysburg, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord at 10:20am Friday, July 4, 2003. Mrs. Slaughter passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born November 15, 1916 in Dresden, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey and Elizabeth (Luckett) Hindel. She graduated in 1936 from Jefferson High School and was a 55 year member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church. She became the bride of Clinton E. (Bill) Slaughter on January 26, 1944 at the Coburn United Methodist Church in Zanesville, Ohio. They moved to Bill?s farm north of Frazeysburg where she lived the rest of her life. Together they operated a dairy farm for over 50 years. Anna never gave up her farm life as she continued to keep her chickens and some beef cattle. Anna is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Bob) Hare and Elaine Slaughter, both of Frazeysburg; a special family member, Bob Chatterson of Danville, Ohio; beloved brothers and sisters, Don (Carol) Hindel, Mary Smith, Jack Hindel and Lloyd Hindel, all of Frazeysburg, and Jim Hindel of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; sisters in-law, Geneva Slaughter of Coshocton, Doris Hindel and Leona Hindel, both of Frazeysburg; a special niece, Betty Drake of Zanesville; many other nieces and nephews; and her devoted dog, Gypsy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on July 10, 1997; four brothers, Dorsey, William (Buss), John and Lee Hindel; and a sister, Loretta Groves Everyone who knew Anna was blessed by her smile and her homemade bread and pies, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Throughout her long illness she continued to be an inspiration to all. Those who came to comfort her, instead, went away comforted. She continued to keep her special smile and wonderful sense of humor. Calling hours for Anna will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Monday, July 7, 2002 at Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be 1:30pm Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery. The family request that memorial contributions be made to Genesis Hospice and a special thanks goes to Kim and Carol, part of the Genesis Hospice Team, and to Dr. Poirier for his wonderful care.
