Amy E. Stockdale, 93, of Toboso, Ohio died Wednesday evening June 14, 2017 at The Oaks at Bethesda in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born October 30, 1923 in Toboso she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Ella (Hitchcock) Richardson and was a 1941 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. She was a life-long resident of Toboso and was raised on the Cherry Hill fruit farm. Following high school she worked as a window trimmer at Kresge's. Later she worked at Riley's Bakery in Newark and she was an Avon representative for many years. Amy was a member of the Toboso United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Association of the church. She was also a member of the Owens-Corning Retirees Club, Owen-Corning Camper Club; the ladies auxiliary at Hanover Volunteer Fire Department and various card clubs and garden clubs.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law, Timothy L. and Barbara Stockdale of Newark and Dwight D. and Cindy Stockdale of Newark; a special son, Glenn (Becky) Baker of Lindsey, Ohio; six grandchildren, Lori (Craig) Sigrist, Angela (James) Dixon, Tyler (Kayla Brooks) Stockdale, Jessica (Dan) Hoover, Zackary (Katie) Stockdale and Kendrah (Ryan) Cunningham; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Stockdale whom she married April 7, 1946 and who died March 31, 1992; two brothers, Dale Richardson, who was killed in action during World War II, and Delbert Richardson. Also preceding her in death was her special companion, Brice Westfall.
The Stockdale family would like to express a very special thanks to the staff of The Oaks at Bethesda and to Hospice of Central Ohio for the wonderful care given to Amy.
Calling hour will be 2pm to 5pm Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Frazeysburg chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, June 19, 2017 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dean Cole officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
