A funeral service for Alverta Mae Cannon Moran, 87 of Newark will be held Wednesday July 26, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 19 W. National Drive, Newark with Rev. Mark Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow in Frazeysburg Cemetery.Mrs. Moran went to be with the Lord, Sunday July 23, 2006 at Paramount Senior Living, Newark. She was born October 21, 1918 in Mary Ann Township, Licking County to the late John Wesley and May Elizabeth (Nichols) Cannon.Mrs. Moran was a member of Second Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School there for over 25 years and was a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. She was employed by Bazley?s Meat Market and retired in 1983 as an LPN at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was a 1936 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. In 1968 she graduated from the LPN program at MAJVS. Mrs. Moran was the caregiver for all her brothers and sisters and extended family.She is survived by three sons, Ronald F. & Phyllis Moran of Frazeysburg, James R. & Kathy Moran of Frazeysburg, Daniel W. & Eva Moran of Newark; sister, Indus Slate of Newark; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, six brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter preceded her in death.Calling hours will be observed Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street, Newark.Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Ohio 2269 Cherry Valley Road SE, Newark, Ohio 43055-9925
