Obituary

Alton "Bud" Schuhart, of Nashport Ohio; previously of Sequin TX, saddled up and rode off into the sunset on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born on August 15, 1933 to Doris (Schramm) and Alvin Schuhart, in Oshkosh WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, his brother Tom Schuhart and sister Sandy McHugh.

Survivors include his sons, Jeff Schuhart (Rita) of Nashport, OH, and Ken Schuhart (Terry) of Newark; and stepdaughters, Margo L. King of Heath, OH, and Marcia S. Holzbach of Poquoson, VA. Brothers, Jerry Schuhart, Jim (Elissa) Schuhart and sister Margaret Schettl all of Wisconsin. His memory will carry on in the hearts of his many grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and an extensive list of beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Bud was a great storyteller with a voice that was as unique as they come; raspy, deep and low. If you were lucky enough to hear his host of stories, then you were lucky enough. His love and knowledge of horses is something he shared with anyone that was willing to lend an ear. He had a nostalgic love for old westerns and western novels; which you often found a tattered book by his chair. He served our country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict as well as serving in the Army National Guard; a total of 22 years of service. He was famously known among family and friends for his brisket and if you ever had a chance to taste it, you would know why; it was cooked to perfection. His 'family secret' potato pancakes and homemade Pico de Gallo were usually dishes requested by the family, i. e. grandkids or great grandkids.

Bud spent many years owning and operating Arrowhead Acres in Newark, OH. He and Carol moved to TX in 1981. Working with horses was his passion in life but spent years as an Auto Body Repairman and eventually was an Auto Body teacher. He was a man of many talents and trades. Bud really enjoyed traveling, visiting family in Wisconsin, Ohio and Virginia for many years.

We lost a true lifetime legend, one of the good ones but his memory will live on in those that are still here. There is no service upon his own personal request. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Oaks at Bethesda and his hospice nurse Erin for their excellent care and compassion.
