FRAZEYSBURG ? Alpha Lee Thornhill, 87, of Nashport, Ohio, died at 6:05am Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville, Ohio. Born April 14, 1919 in Camden, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Zachie and Stella Jane (Smith) Thornhill and he was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Force. Mr. Thornhill was a construction laborer with Koker Company of Dayton, Ohio; was a member of the Maranatha Bible Church and a life member of VFW Post 1058. Surviving is his wife, Bertha (Grannon) Thornhill, whom he married March 22, 1959; four sons, Lloyd C. (Linda) Thornhill of Mt. Perry, Ohio, Carl J. (Paula) Thornhill of Stockport, Ohio, Gayle L. Thornhill and Ben C. Thornhill, both of Zanesville; two daughters, Julia P. ( Jerry) Clark of Beverly, Ohio and Wendy S. Ward of Zanesville; two brothers, Kenneth Thornhill of Buckhand, West Virginia and Ed Thornhill of Clarksburg, West Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin, Alva Thornhill and William Thornhill. Calling hours will be 6 to 8pm Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, Frazeysburg. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Crooksville Cemetery, Crooksville, Ohio with Pastor Ron Smith officiating.
