Alberta Newell, 71, of Zanesville, died at 6:25AM Saturday at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Mrs. Newell was born April 16, 1932 in Senecaville, a daughter of the late Earl and Iona (Finley) Triplett. She had worked with the VFW Auxiliary in Dresden and a was a former member of the Muskingum Township Fire Department Auxiliary and a former member of the Muskingum Township 200 Club and had retired from D.C.S. after 15 years. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Harold E. Newell, Sr.; sons, Conard (Bob) (Jona) Newell of Zanesville, Mark A. (Jerri) Newell of Dresden, John E. (Kim) Newell of Zanesville; step son, Harold (Ruth) Newell, Jr., eight grandchildren, Stacy Mangold, Tessa Tilton, Jason Newell, Brandon Newell, Trisha Newell, Ryan (Nick) Newell, Jordan Newell, Rylee Newell, 6 great grandchildren, Tyler and Skylar Krofft, Kyle and Stacia Mangold, Gabriella and Preston Newell, five step grandchildren, Anthony (A.J.) Hill, Jr., Nathaniel Hill, Candra Mahlke, Jarrod Murphy, Dade Newell, five step great grandchildren, three sisters, Ruth Johnson of Florida, Geneva Guiler of Senecaville, Carol Metheney of Byesville. Her sister, Mary Clippner and brothers, Harold, Gilbert, Charles, Raymond and Donald Triplett, preceded her in death. Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9PM Monday April 12, 2004 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1PM Tuesday with Dr. James Schumacher officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum Presbyterian Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
