Agnes Lazar Smith, 71, of Dresden, died at 8:57PM Thursday December 11, 2008 at Genesis Good Samaritan. Mrs. Smith was born July 21, 1937 in Zanesville, a daughter of David and Rosa (Cowden) Lazar. She was a graduate of Rosecrans High School and the Ohio University-Zanesville School of Nursing. For many years she had worked in the surgery department at Good Samaritan Medical Center. After her retirement she worked in home health and had operated Sunday?s Child on Main Street in Dresden. She had volunteered at the Crisis Hotline and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Dresden. She loved to sew and enjoyed making and collecting quilts and attending quilting seminars. Surviving are her children, Harry (Cynthia) Smith of Allen, Texas, Valerie (Jim) Davis of Dresden; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Kristin) Davis, Brandon (Angela) Davis, Christopher Davis, Wayne Smith and Audrey Smith, three brothers, Ted (Janice) Lazar of S. Zanesville, Danny (Nancy) Lazar of Pataskala, Tom (Rita) Lazar of Nashport, her dear friends Kathy Larson, Hinda Ardrey and Dr. Betty Mosely Brown, and her faithful dog, Brinkley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne F. ?Buck? Smith on August 3, 2006 and a son-in-law, John W. ?Jack? Davis on November 23, 2005. Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9PM Monday December 15, 2008 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11AM with Pastor Andrew Dennis officiating.
